Thank you for waiting. The only thing that has been changed is - now you have an option to come in and just watch the ceremony for... FREE! We just wanted to share this opportunity with more people interested in watching this Japanese tradition. Space is limited for spectator section so it will be on a first come, first serve bases. Event info: Date: Sun, Aug 19 2007 Time: 1:30pm to 2:30pm (Door opens at 1:15pm) Where: roji tea lounge Fee: FREE (Stand/Spectator) $11 (Reservations and pre-payment required for seat assingment. Includes Matcha Green tea and sweets) The Japanese tea ceremony (chado or sado, 'the way of tea') is a traditional ritual influenced by Zen Buddhism in which powdered green tea, or matcha, is ceremonially prepared by a skilled practitioner and served to a small group of guests in a tranquil setting. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Matcha is made from high grade green tea. It is prepared in a grinded form, so basically you are drinking the whole leaf which means you are getting the whole goodness of green tea. EARTH is the source of ceramics, tea's adornment. METAL is the resource from which kettles are fashioned. WATER, in its purest form, is the friend of tea WOOD is the substance from which tea is born FIRE is the teacher of tea in that it moulds tea's character during processing and again during its brewing. Water and fire interact to release the hidden potentials of the leaf. The ceremony lasts for about 10 - 15 min and there are a couple of different styles that will be performed. Matcha green tea and sweets will be served within the event hour for those guests with reservations. Reservations can be made at the shop, by phone,or e-mail. Please feel free to contact us for any questions and we hope you can join us for a pleasant sunday. Thank you. TOMOMI roji tea lounge
